The World Through My Eyes and Camera Lens

Goliath the Great Dane Puppy

I would like to introduce to you, the cutest, sweetest puppy I’ve ever met- Our 7 week old blue merle great dane puppy named Goliath :)  And how fitting is his name! He’s the largest puppy in his litter (expected to grow to 180-200 lbs)! He is also the most mellow puppy in his litter, which we like too. I took this picture upside down using my point and shoot while he was half way laying on my lap/grass. I love the picture, and I love his eyes! The color, the innocence, everything!

Zoom Blur

I recently came across a Pinterest link that showcased zoom blur, which, although intuitive, amazed me! I decided to whip up a simple design on Photoshop and then take a zoom blur pic of it. If you ask my husband what my favorite emotion is, he’ll waste no time telling you that I love Love. I say it all the time. Love is such a beautiful thing and has so many dimensions– the love you have for a spouse is different than the love you have for a child, a parent, a sibling, a friend, which are all different from the love you have for a career, hobby, sport, etc. So this is dedicated to my absolute favorite emotion in the world: Love :)

St. Louis Snow

Where the heck is spring?! When I moved down to St. Louis, I figured I’d enjoy a milder rest of the winter and a nice warm spring. Wrong. Apparently, snow, rain, overcast skies, cold weather, etc. follows me. Yesterday it snowed about 8 inches, so today I decided to take some picture of a beautiful nearby lake/snow covered trees. Oh yea, and a snow covered beagle named Marley.

Gateway to the West

Tomorrow I start my last optometry rotation here in St. Louis! Today, Nick and I went downtown and explored. Obviously, I had to take some pics of the Gateway Arch… and without further ado, here they are!

Mount Hood

It’s my last weekend here in Portland before I move on to start my last optometry rotation. It’s completely bittersweet. I’m so excited to graduate and be with my husband, but Oregon is probably the most beautiful state I have ever been in (and definitely the most beautiful that I’ve ever lived in)! Although, I think the reason I don’t want to leave is because it happened to be a beautiful sunny day today. If you would have asked me a couple of days ago when it was rainy and gloomy for several days in a row, I would have told you that I couldn’t wait to leave. Like I said, bittersweet. The next time I’ll be back in the Portland Metro area, I will be graduating with my optometry doctorate.. these past 4 years have flown by really fast!

Anyways, since it was a beautiful day, and because it’s my last weekend here, I decided to take some pictures of Mt. Hood. It’s not very often that you can see the Hood from the city because it’s always rainy, overcast, foggy, etc. Today was so sunny, 54 degrees, and the skies were just about crystal clear. There were just enough wispy clouds to make make my HDR photos pop. I also took some pictures of the city and Mt. St. Helens from the OHSU hill. It was a wonderful last Saturday in the upper NW.

Family Love

Christmas time has come and gone, which means excuses to eat lots of fattening sweets are no longer valid, I must go back to work, and worst of all, I had to say goodbye to my family for a little while again. I love my family- more than words can say. They have been my support system from day one. Everything I have achieved in my life thus far is directly influenced by the love and support I have received from them in the past 26 years of my life. Here are some of my favorite family shots from Christmas time with the fam bam!

Sleepless in Seattle

Thanksgiving has come and gone too quickly! My husband was able to come out to the Pacific NW to celebrate with me for our first “married Thanksgiving.” We decided to spend the day up in Seattle, since Nick has never been. Although we had planned on doing other things besides seeing the space needle, we pretty much spent most of the day ooing and ahhing over the beautiful scenery of the city and the sound from the top.

Mother Nature’s Done it Again!

Wow, it seems like I haven’t been here forever! Well, I finally got settled back into life here in Oregon! While I was moving halfway across the country, I noticed these beautiful clouds in Montana! Not only are the clouds really awesome, but you can see rainbow bursts along the edge of the clouds. I think in smaller versions, these are called fire clouds or sundogs. I know it’s the same concept, but when seen on a larger scale, I don’t know what to call it. It’s very subtle! This photo was shot in RAW so the only editing done was a RAW-JPEG conversion. Nature is soooo beautiful!

When I finally got back into Oregon, I couldn’t wait to drive past Multnomah Falls while on I-84! It’s seriously my favorite stop along any interstate ever. The most perfect thing about this trip was the fact that the fall colors were still there! So, without further ado, here are some pictures of Multnomah Falls.

Moriah’s Grunge Photoshoot

Moriah came up to Minneapolis to visit me this weekend, so we took the opportunity to take some pictures at the Stone Arch Bridge Ruins. She wanted a shoot that would display her new motorcycle jacket, so we went for an edgy, grunge style shoot at the ruins. I edited the pictures to be dark, to reflect the dark attitude she wanted to portray. Enjoy!

Mill City Museum

Yesterday, Moriah (my sister) and I went down to the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis to take pictures (see them here). While there, I had to take advantage of the perfect clouds and take some HDR pics of the Mill City Museum/Gold Medal Flour Plant.
